整個規劃用地東臨長江，南側3公里為筆架山風景名勝區。優越的區位、獨特的地形地貌為旅游度假區的打造提供了得天獨厚的先決條件。基址內部地形變化較大，以低山和中山為主，部分以組團式形成臺地和洼地，高差較大，局部地區有斷崖存在。
